About the Trust

Our purpose, focus areas, and how we make decisions

Our Purpose

The Lambury Charitable Trust is a small, independent grant-making trust based in Bristol. Established as a charitable trust, we focus on providing grants rather than delivering services directly.

Our purpose is to make donations of a charitable nature to individuals and organisations, with an emphasis on overseas relief, education and religious activities. Grants are made at the trustees' discretion within a broad charitable remit.

We are registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (Charity number: 1043638) and operate with transparency and accountability.

Our Focus Areas

The Trust concentrates its grant-making in these key areas

Overseas Aid & Famine Relief

We support humanitarian projects addressing poverty, famine, disaster relief, and basic needs in vulnerable communities around the world.

This includes emergency response, sustainable development, and capacity-building initiatives.

Education & Training

We fund educational initiatives that provide learning opportunities, skills development, and access to knowledge for people of all ages.

This includes support for schools, training programmes, literacy projects, and educational resources.

Religious & Faith-Based Activities

We support faith-based projects that deliver public benefit, contribute to community wellbeing, and promote spiritual development.

All religious activities we fund must be charitable in nature and provide clear public benefit.

General Charitable Purposes

Within our broad charitable objects, we may also support other charitable causes that align with the trustees' discretion and the Trust's resources.

This ensures flexibility to respond to emerging needs and opportunities.

How We Make Decisions

The Trust operates under the guidance of its trustees, who review applications and make funding decisions based on the following principles:

Discretionary Decision-Making

All grants are made at the absolute discretion of the trustees. There is no automatic entitlement to funding, and each application is considered on its own merits.

Alignment with Focus Areas

Priority is given to projects that clearly align with our focus areas of overseas relief, education, and religious activities. However, the trustees may consider other charitable purposes within our broad remit.

Need and Impact

We consider the demonstrated need for the project and its potential impact on beneficiaries. We prioritise projects that deliver meaningful, sustainable benefits.

Available Resources

Funding decisions take into account the Trust's available resources. As a small trust, our funds are limited, and we cannot support all worthy applications.

No Guarantee of Funding

It is important to note that there is no guarantee of funding, even for projects that appear to meet all our criteria. The trustees' decision is final.

Important: The Trust does not have any trading subsidiaries, and no trustees receive any remuneration, payments or benefits from the charity. All decisions are made independently and in line with our charitable purposes.
